Michael Smith focuses on enhancing organizational growth and profitability as he leads IT transformation initiatives.  He brings a deep knowledge of technology systems and best practices to bear while developing innovative, enterprise-level operational programs.  His experience across healthcare, life sciences, global manufacturing, supply chain, and logistics provide a valuable perspective on how to achieve success in challenging business environments. Michael’s achievements include directing M&A integrations involving cost reduction, elimination of legacy platforms, and implementation of new systems to achieve optimal enterprise performance and accelerated growth.  His leadership style is grounded in partnership, collaboration, and attention to risk management.  Michael tackles complex problems with gusto as he displays change agility and turnaround prowess.

As a CIO, Michael enhanced the strategic assessment and development of information systems.   He took an active stance in looking for opportunities to embrace automation, migrate to cloud computing, and increase digital interactions with the customer. His leadership agenda addressed cost structure and operational processes in order to improve the shareholder value and the company’s competitive position.  Michael successfully led multiple transformation initiatives to achieve organizational objectives.  Recently, he has created a new architectural technology model that focuses on agility and innovation to drive new product development.  Across his career, Michael has been actively involved in the planning and execution of ERP and CRM implementations.  His early experience in management consulting set the foundation for his commitment to exceptional client service.  Known as a people person, he inspires his team to work collaboratively and to develop partnership with business unit colleagues.  Michael has received awards for innovation and excellence in mentoring while also being honored by CIO100 awards (2020) and the Kansas City CIO of the Year program (finalist, 2021).

Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from College of the Ozarks and earned a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Executive Leadership from the University of Phoenix.  With a commitment to continued professional development, he earned Microsoft certifications including MCSE, MCDBA, and MCT.  Away from the office, he enjoys time on the beach plus golfing, serving his church, and spending time with family.
