Tim Mather is a recognized leader in information security with more than 30 years of experience advising public and private companies on their most critical issues. He navigates the political and technical environments of an organization with ease as he protects intellectual property and ensures no serious security breaches. Tim has successfully built the information security function from scratch for global brands and invested in start-ups developing new cybersecurity platforms and systems. His proven ability to create an enterprise defense profile against large volumes of malicious traffic and sophisticated attacks enables senior leadership teams to focus on business growth and profitability. His industry experience ranges from technology to manufacturing in both B2B and B2C settings.

At leading public and private companies in the Silicon Valley, Tim has developed strategy and guided execution to establish a digital defense, cybersecurity systems, and data driven products. At Fortium Partners, he advises clients on complex business challenges and assists management teams with cloud business strategies, regulatory compliance models, information security control, and innovation initiatives, among many areas. He has served as a virtual, fractional, and interim CISO with positive impact and developed corporate technology teams to support enterprise success. Of note, he has been a planning committee member of the US Secret Service Cyber Fraud Task Force since 2007.

Tim holds three master’s degrees in diverse yet related subjects: information assurance from Brandeis University; national security studies from Georgetown University, and international policy studies from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts in political economics from the University of California at Berkeley. A recognized thought leader on cybersecurity and information protection, he has co-authored two successful books, Cloud Security and Privacy and The Executive Guide to Information Security: Threats, Challenges, and Solutions, both of which are available on Amazon. For fun, Tim is an avid international traveler, and a fervent fan of FIA Formula 1 racing.
