Gary joined Fortium Partners with expert knowledge and deep experience in all aspects of global information security.  At small, medium, and large companies (Fortune 50), he successfully led geographically dispersed IT & OT security teams with emphasis on supply chain threats and crisis response.  He acted as a cultural change catalyst for organization-wide pragmatic security awareness and training focused on business results and flexibility.  He has a history of success fixing organizational, technical, and team performance issues in a timely, efficient and results-oriented manner without leaving scorched earth. Gary has a penchant for building out security organizations with a focus on performance that enables the business via leading edge processes, policies, technology, and accountability.  He has successfully implemented ISO27001 and NIST aligned frameworks to secure the enterprise while ensuring the infrastructure remains flexible for the company to pursue new opportunities. He exhibits a cool, pragmatic approach while navigating risks and remediating high-stress incidents.

As a CISO, Gary led all information security functions for a global leader in the food sector.  His team supported global manufacturing, distribution, and corporate functions as well as joint ventures.  He led a supply chain security solidification project which strengthened resilience.  With a career focus on security assurance and architecture, Gary has developed and integrated emerging technologies to strengthen controls.  He has held responsibility for governance, risk, and compliance and developed the protocols and roadmap to detect and thwart external threats.  Gary has driven successful implementation of PCI, ISO27001, and other industry and regulatory standards.  His expert knowledge, collaborative style, and practical nature are valued by colleagues and clients.

Gary graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Management from the University of Redlands and continued his graduate study at the University of Washington where he earned a Master of Business Administration.  Reflecting his commitment to professional development, Gary achieved Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Project Management Professional (PMP) and other credentials in risk, implementation, and audit.   He is a graduate of Stanford University School of Engineering’s Advanced Cybersecurity Program. He enjoys gardening, tennis, pickleball, and hiking.
