Frank Tiemann joined Fortium Partners as a Partner with thirty years of experience as a technology leader in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments.  He has notable success driving innovation, delivering scalable and reliable client-focused solutions and realizing cost savings.  Most recently, Frank served as Chief Technology Officer and Executive Board Member of Ronin Capital, a global, multi-strategy proprietary trading firm headquartered in Chicago with offices in New York, London and Hong Kong.  He led a cross-functional technology team of 70+ professionals working in project management, software development, business intelligence, network administration and other areas essential to trader support and firm profitability.  Under his leadership, the technology team minimized operational risk by utilizing enterprise risk frameworks, local and global redundancy strategies and strong cybersecurity measures while concurrently planning for disaster recovery and business continuity.  Frank also focused on developing resources to rapidly on-board and validate trading strategies through deployment of a proprietary multi-tier, low-latency, high throughput trading eco-system.  This work led to launch and spin-off of Rival Systems as Ronin Capital commercialized its innovative trading and risk management capabilities.

Frank previously served as Director of Technology for Sapient, an active element of Publicis.Sapient, is a global services company that helps clients transform in the areas of business, marketing, and technology.  He guided inter-disciplinary, global teams to deliver digital solutions with attention to user experience.  His clients included major public companies pursuing digital transformation and seeking growth through omni-channel commerce.  While serving Allstate, Frank led his client’s effort to transform producer productivity and modernized its core infrastructure by shifting to a web-based platform.

Following his passion as an entrepreneur, Frank co-founded a commercial fleet management company.  As Chief Technology Officer of the internet start-up, Frank partnered with the CEO to design, build and launch a web-based solution to transform the sector.  He participated in all levels of company management and pursued partnerships with Toyota, GM and Ford.

Earlier, as Director Enterprise Data Management at Citadel Investment Group, Frank managed teams and collaborated with traders and quants to build data warehouses, workflows and applications in support of automated trading strategies.  He also led data acquisition and administration across the enterprise.  Frank began his career as an engineer at Siemens Nixdorf, where he developed software for Nixdorf’s proprietary client/server-based retail solution.  He also provided project management to Nordstrom and other retailers.  He also worked as a senior consultant at Sybase, where he assisted clients in the design, build and deployment of databases and applications.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Business Administration from Nixdorf Computer AG, K.A. in Paderborn, Germany.  Recognize as an industry leader, Frank twice received the Best Buy-Side Commodities Trading Platform Award from WatersTechnology, the financial services industry’s premier provider of technology and data-related information.
