Deborah joined Fortum Partners with more than 30 years of experience as a strategic IT executive in highly regulated environments.  Her forte is management of complex technology initiatives that involve cultural change.  She has worked extensively in the areas of digital transformation, cybersecurity, and cloud strategy.  Deborah partners with the technology team, enterprise leadership, and key vendors to identify and implement complex IT solutions.  Committed to best practices and continuous learning, she is active in industry associations, CIO peer councils, and women in technology groups.  She inspires next generation talent as she volunteers with STEM organizations.

As a CIO, Deborah has notable experience setting IT strategy and vision for sophisticated global enterprises.  Her perspective is anchored by deep knowledge of process improvement and best practices.  She has launched ecommerce channels to rapidly accelerate growth and shifted DevOps to an Agile environment.  Deborah prioritized advancement in cybersecurity, compliance, and data management, and analytics during her tenure in financial services and insurance.  She accomplished complex projects including cloud migration, digital transformation, and cultural change.  Committed to developing next generation of IT professionals, Deborah inspires teams by focusing on innovation and volunteers as a mentor in STEM programs for young women.

Active in community, professional, and industry organizations, Deborah has served on the board of directors of Hampton Roads Communities in Schools and RVATECH/Richmond Technology Council and its foundation.  She is a founding member of the Go Red Executive Council of the American Red Cross Circle, Hampton Roads Women in Technology, and multiple CIO peer groups.

Deborah graduated from Mary Baldwin University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Information Systems.  She earned a Master of Science in the Management of Information Technology from the University of Virginia, where she serves on Advisory Council and as Executive on Grounds for the McIntire School of Commerce.  Among many accolades, Deborah was recognized in CIO magazine’s CIO 100 list for excellence in information technology.  She also holds ITIL and Allianz’s Six Sigma Blue Belt certifications, and frequently guest lectures for local organizations and graduate-level IT programs.
