Fortium Partners Welcomes John Mobley - A CIO with a Twist!

Dallas, TX – July 25, 2016 – FORTIUM PARTNERS, the world’s fastest-growing provider of IT turnaround and leadership services, today announced that John Mobley, a C-suite finance and technology leader with three decades of experience leading companies with large scale IT infrastructures, has joined the Florida practice. With long-term experience sitting in both the CFO and CIO seat, Mobley is uniquely positioned to identify how technology decisions can have the greatest impact on revenue.

In his most recent role, Mobley was both the finance technology leader and CFO of Stellar Recovery Inc., a third-party recovery service which manages Fortune 500 client portfolios of $1.2 billion, where he architected and executed solutions that enabled the company to grow revenue 46 percent each year for three years. Before that he was CIO of AFNI Financial Services, a $220 million business process outsourcing and recovery firm where he launched three e-commerce systems using cloud technologies to replace failing legacy systems and increased customer service capacity that resulted in $15 million increase in annual revenues. He was also the CIO for West Corporation and AGL Resources, and a technology and financial leader for CMS Energy and Contel. He served seven years in a consultant role with Deloitte early in his career and also co-founded his own consulting firm where he took on CFO and CIO roles with multiple businesses.

“Our clients often come to us when their technology needs are limiting their profitability, so it’s almost too good to be true to have a C-suite executive on board who can speak to both the finance and technology sides of the business equally well, with the track record to support it,” said Tim McCracken, Fortium Chairman and CEO. “John’s experience in dual leadership roles offers clients an uncanny ability to pinpoint exactly which technology decisions will best support revenue growth. The partners at Fortium are looking forward to solving new problems with John on board.”
“Evaluating business growth when there are factors at play like Big Data, Software-as-a-Service, compliance and other issues is tough to wrap your arms around if you don’t have insight into what makes the business tick from both a financial and technology perspective,” said Mobley. “You have to think like an accountant, a project manager, a vendor, an employee and a board director all at once. This is where Fortium Partners excels, and this is why I joined the team. We look at the full picture and deliver to clients the solutions needed to support revenue growth. Fortium has an unbeatable team of skill and experience.”

Mobley holds degrees as a master of professional accountancy and bachelor of business administration from Georgia State University. He is also certified as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Project Management Professional and CPA.

Acclaimed Ivy League and Higher Education CIO Joins Fortium Partners

Dallas, TX -- April 28, 2016 – FORTIUM PARTNERS, the world’s fastest-growing provider of technology turnaround and leadership services, today announced that Greg Jackson, a highly specialized technology leader and advisor of higher education institutions like Harvard, Stanford, MIT and the University of Chicago, has joined the Mid-Atlantic practice of Fortium Partners. Jackson uses his 30 years of experience in data analytics, public policy and higher education to support policy development and program management for clients seeking opportunities and collaboration in the higher education niche.

Jackson spent more than a dozen years combined as a faculty member for Stanford University and Harvard University teaching research methods and analytic strategies before he migrated to technology administration at MIT, where he managed the Athena computing environment. After MIT, he served for 13 years as CIO of the University of Chicago, where he was responsible for the university’s $75 million, 400-person central technology organization. He then ventured into the policy side as vice president of policy for EDUCAUSE, a non-profit association whose mission is to advance higher education through technology. Most recently, Jackson served as vice president for university outreach with NBCUniversal, where he developed new programs to improve relationships between higher education and the entertainment industry.

“The academic arena places unique demands on the higher-education CIO because their broad constituencies include faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, prospective students, parents and even policymakers, often with far fewer resources than the corporate CIO,” said Tim McCracken, Fortium Chairman and CEO. “Greg draws on a wealth of experience leading campus information technology and advocating on national policy issues at some of our nation’s most renowned institutions. If it’s related to higher education, he’s the best advisor any client could ask for, and that’s why we’re enthusiastic that he’s joined the Fortium team.”
“Fortium Partners understands that whatever is true about technology in a corporate market is amplified and amended in an educational environment. The era of technology control is over because faculty, students and alumni all have different needs and options for meeting them, and they will find a way to meet those needs with or without their institution’s help. I’ve faced that, and I know how to show institutions how to tackle it,” said Jackson. “I find the Fortium model attractive because unlike consulting firms, we see no need to provide a busload of consultants to solve problems. We provide direct support at the leadership level to those who must impact an organization the most, which makes much more sense for CIOs at our level.”

Jackson holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and History from MIT and an Ed.D. in Statistics and Research Methods from Harvard.

Top Banking and Investment CIO Joins Fortium Partners

Dallas, TX February 12, 2016 – FORTIUM PARTNERS, the world’s fastest-growing provider of IT turnaround and leadership services, announced today that top banking and investment leader Larry Sikon has joined the New York practice of Fortium Partners. Sikon brings more than 30 years of executive-level management experience in financial services and information technology, with a proven track record of leading large application development groups and successful project delivery.

Most recently, Sikon was senior vice president of home office and corporate systems development for LPL Financial, the nation’s largest independent broker-dealer, where he managed a group of 100 developers and numerous international contractors in the development of in-house and corporate applications that supported over 12,500 financial advisors. He delivered over 80% of all projects on time and as budgeted, and maintained one of the firm’s lowest turnover rates. Before LPL he was senior vice president for Union Bank, where he served on the executive management team responsible for the global markets and wealth management business for a four year, $200 million project aimed at replacing the core banking systems with an integrated banking platform. Prior to Union Bank, Sikon was the CIO of Thomas Weisel Partners, an investment banking and wealth management firm where he supported its transition from a four-office private U.S. firm to a 15-city public company located in five countries.

“For years, the banking industry has been forced to operate on lean budgets thanks to low interest rates and increased regulatory and overhead. Larry embraces that risky environment as a hands-on technology executive who knows how to motivate large teams to accomplish assertive business goals, even when they have a history of low performance,” said Tim McCracken, Fortium Chairman and CEO. “By developing people to their full potential, he creates IT organizations that can creatively resolve tough business problems that are an everyday occurrence in the banking industry.”
“The banks that are most subject to year after year of cost cutting measures have paid the price as they face aging infrastructures and inefficient data centers,” said Sikon. “While some banks have thrived in the past few years, many commercial banks are starting to take a hard look at their systems to evaluate cloud-based applications and outsourced options. I’m glad that my partners here at Fortium are seeing similar activity in other industries because we can collaborate on how to help our clients transition smoothly to better solutions.”

Earlier in his career, Sikon was the CIO and COO of Senterprise, CTO of Montgomery Securities and VP of branch office systems development for Merrill Lynch and Co., Inc. He was also acting CIO for DHL Worldwide Express and VP and director of MIS for Chase’s Institutional Banking Group.

Sikon holds an MBA in Finance from Fordham University and a BS in Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University.
