Dallas, TX March 23, 2016 – FORTIUM PARTNERS, the world’s fastest-growing provider of IT turnaround and leadership services, today announced that Steve Taff, a technology leader for multiple billion dollar plus telecommunications organizations, has joined the Dallas practice of Fortium Partners. Taff brings more than 25 years of experience as a visionary integration leader who uses technology to provide an exceptional customer experience.
Most recently, Taff was the CIO and CTO of XO Communications, a $1.5 billion national service provider of one of the largest IP and Ethernet networks in the U.S. During his 11-year tenure at XO, Taff led the organization to become an Agile/digital organization with both speed and stability, resulting in double-digit profit growth over three years. He also led major advances in customer self-service experience using mobile and cloud technology, which resulted in a 30% improvement in customer retention over the past two years. He also reduced IT spend by 40% over four years. His successful business initiatives and solutions have been recognized by leading publications like Information Week, CIO Magazine, Internet Telephony and Technology Marketing (TMC). Taff also served in technology management roles with Allegiance Telecom, MFS Communications (acquired by Worldcom) and Sprint Corporation.
“The telecom landscape is changing rapidly as the industry makes a digital transformation to focus on the customer experience. Telecom companies – whether their offerings are fiber, cloud-based, wireless or a combo – require an extraordinary amount of flexibility, restraint and strategic resolve to gain status as the customer’s trusted technology partner,” said Tim McCracken, Fortium Chairman and CEO. “With more than a decade as CIO of a billion dollar telecom provider, Steve has experienced countless transformations, and he knows how to assess what plans will work most effectively in that industry. We’re so glad to have a CIO with such a rich background on the team.”
“In my days as a CIO, there were many times I would have benefitted from a confidential advisor to coach me through change. I joined Fortium because I can take my experiences back to the C-suite of like-minded colleagues – leaders who want to innovate, increase profitability and use technology to impact business outcomes,” said Taff. “Fortium’s model allows me to help multiple businesses realize value with the implementation of digital technology, and that’s my goal as a consulting CIO with large corp experience.”
Taff holds an MBA from the University of Houston and a BBA from Baylor University.
