Dallas, TX – February 26, 2016 – FORTIUM PARTNERS, the world’s fastest-growing provider of IT turnaround and leadership services, announced today that former GE divisional CIO/CTO Larry Winkelman has joined the Chicago practice of Fortium Partners, bringing more than 30 years of IT experience.
During his 22-year tenure with GE and GE Capital, Winkelman consolidated technology, processes and information for over a dozen acquisitions as the division strived to reach and maintain top market positioning. He designed and implemented a state-of-the-art technology platform supporting a high-growth, technology focused business strategy as the division grew from $100 million to $1 billion in six years. After GE, Winkelman served as CIO of Sanwa Business Credit Corp., leading a series of IT turnarounds. He has also served as an executive advisor for some of NCR’s largest customers as part of its global services team. Most recently, Winkelman served as an independent consultant and interim executive for several clients, including HSBC.
“Making ‘big company’ IT leaders available to our clients is what we do. They bring experience and vision that can't be found anywhere else. Our partners have led vast organizations in some of the most complex and successful environments and have lived to tell about it. During his distinguished career at behemoth GE, Larry led teams through some of the most challenging issues including economic growth and decline, countless mergers and acquisitions, and organizational turnarounds," said Tim McCracken, Fortium Chairman and CEO. “He has long been in that CIO hot seat in large, complex, high-growth enterprises, and we’re thrilled to have a CIO of his caliber on board.”
“Large IT projects and business restructuring are inherently high risk undertakings. Often these risks are neither adequately understood nor explicitly addressed by business management. As a strategically minded CIO, I have always sought to ensure that the businesses I support have a clear view of both the risks and rewards of proceeding,” said Winkelman. “I am excited to join Fortium Partners because, by collaborating with Fortium's stellar team of CIO consultants, I will be able to even more effectively help our clients succeed.”
Winkelman holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia. He has held numerous national and local leadership positions as an active member of the Association of Information Technology Professionals, the leading worldwide society of professionals in IT.
