Dallas, TX -- October 28, 2015 – FORTIUM PARTNERS, the world’s fastest-growing provider of IT turnaround and leadership services, announced today that Tom Murray, a senior technology leader with an enthusiastic approach for IT performance turnarounds, has joined the Greater Chicago Area practice of Fortium Partners. Murray has devoted his career to helping low performing businesses shift their focus to strategy, execution and accountability, which bring immediate stabilization and bottom line results to organizations in distress.
Murray specializes in project rescue, where he leads business critical projects and IT business alignment during demanding transitions like mergers, ERP implementations and systems upgrades, often for household brands. He has helped numerous Fortune 100, mid-sized and small businesses as their interim CIO while serving with firms like Liberty Technology Advisors, Deer Park Group, Inc. and Tatum CIO Partners. Earlier in his career, he was CIO and Vice President, Information Services for industry behemoths ACCO North America and JC Whitney & Co., respectively. Murray has developed multiple IT strategies for manufacturing, distribution and retail organizations, significantly reducing costs and ensuring compliance.
“When business leadership and technology teams don’t speak the same language, IT can begin to drag the business into a state of poor performance instead of enabling growth,” said Tim McCracken, Fortium Chairman and CEO. “IT project rescues often prove to be the most difficult challenges of a CIO’s career because it’s impossible to predict what could go wrong during a merger, an upgrade, hyper growth periods or any number of changes in a business lifecycle. Tom has an established reputation for evaluating declining performance and pinpointing the issue in a matter of days or weeks.”
“There’s nothing magic about technology systems,” said Murray. “Sometimes, seemingly obsolete legacy systems can align with the business needs just fine, and sometimes, more power is needed. It seems simple to suggest that the business needs to align with IT, but often, business leaders need an umpire to assess the technology performance from an outside perspective and translate the results back in business terminology. That’s why I joined Fortium – every partner offers that objectivity, and we can help so many different types of businesses across the globe achieve success.”
Earlier in his career, Murray served in multiple IT management roles with NEC Home Electronics, WW Grainger and Honeywell. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Keller Graduate School in Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Robert Morris University.
