DETROIT, MI September 5, 2014 / - FORTIUM PARTNERS, the world’s fastest growing provider of IT Turnaround and Leadership Services, is pleased to announce that automotive executive Don Barber has become the latest IT leader to join as a Partner in Fortium's Midwest region.
Don Barber joins Fortium after serving nearly seven years with auto-industry powerhouse Delphi Automotive, where he was Vice President IT and Divisional CIO for an $8B division and Delphi's Asia Pacific Region. During his tenure, Barber managed all aspects of global IT operations supporting the largest and most profitable division of Delphi. He was directly responsible for a $142M IT budget and leading an organization that supported 120 sites worldwide. In addition to daily operational leadership, Don's responsibilities included delivery of multi-site, multi-country SAP implementation projects, new plant start-ups, manufacturing and JIT/in-line sequencing solutions, engineering solutions, network and infrastructure projects, and application development projects. He designed and managed the IT integration of a $1B global manufacturing acquisition that included network transition, application rationalization, engineering systems and part numbering consolidation, site consolidations, and email integration resulting in a direct IT synergy savings of more than $2M. Don was able to transition Delphi’s Asia Pacific IT organization into a reengineered IT operating model designed to support the growing demand for agility and speed from business operations. He was expatriated to this fast growing region and country (China), resulting in a unique insight into cultural and business approaches necessary to continue to support the company’s double-digit growth in the region. His organization provided core IT services and project delivery capabilities to support 19,000 scientists, engineers, and technicians with an annual R&D budget of $1.7B. Prior to joining Delphi Automotive, Don served for more than 15 years with Ernst & Young Consulting where he was an IT Consulting Partner working out of the Detroit office.
Tim McCracken, Chairman and CEO of Fortium Partners states: "We proactively recruited Don Barber to Fortium because his name has become synonymous with excellence in IT leadership in automotive and, more widely, manufacturing overall. He has operated with the same "seal-team-six" mentality that we employ in serving Fortium's clients, long before the market was aware it was possible. Adept in a number of different industries from his time with Ernst & Young, Don will be available to bring world-class depth to client service inside automotive/mfg and outside. Don has consulted with companies that are among the world's most prominent brands, and we are very pleased he has agreed to join Fortium."
Don Barber comments: "This is a rare opportunity to align with a firm that is exposed to the most complex, mission-critical initiatives clients will ever experience, and be able to apply a career of experience to simplify and solve our clients serious problems. Sure, I've faced daunting issues before, but to work alongside a team of Fortium Partners whose pedigrees are among the world's finest gives us the confidence that we can solve anything in record time and minimize risk doing it. That's important when you work with clients that can't afford to get it wrong the first time."
